Founded in March 1994 by Mr. T. Q. Lartey and Mrs. Paulina Lartey, who, after years of dedicated service as teachers, desired to extend their rich experience to the next generation and contribute meaningfully to national development. The school was issued with a certificate of incorporation in April 2000.

Grace International School traces its roots to March 1994, when Mr. T. Q. Lartey and Mrs. Paulina Lartey, both seasoned educators with years of teaching experience, made the courageous decision to establish a school that would nurture the next generation while contributing meaningfully to national development.
Their vision was profoundly influenced by a close family friend, Mrs. Georgina Instiful of St. George's Preparatory/J.H.S. in Kumasi, who had been Mrs. Paulina Lartey's teacher at Komenda Training College. This connection, combined with their shared leadership in the Superintendent Minister's Monday Class at Wesley Methodist Church in Adum, Kumasi, helped forge the school's foundational Christian values and educational philosophy.
The school's humble beginnings were marked by remarkable dedication and personal sacrifice. Starting on the ground floor of their current building with just four children in the nursery class, the Larteys demonstrated extraordinary commitment to their vision. Mrs. Mary Ameyaw served as the first teacher, setting the standard for educational excellence that would define the institution.
In a touching display of maternal care, Mrs. Lartey personally sewed uniforms for all seven children enrolled at the time, providing them free of charge. The school's name, "Grace," was chosen to honor the abundant grace that God had bestowed upon the founders, reflecting their deep faith and gratitude.
A pivotal moment in the school's journey came in April 2000, when Grace International School received its certificate of incorporation. This official recognition marked a significant milestone, solidifying the institution's foundation as a legitimate educational establishment and opening doors for continued growth and excellence in Christian education.
Today, Grace International School stands as a beacon of Christian education in Ghana. What began with four nursery students has grown into a thriving institution serving over 2,500 students across all educational levels. This remarkable transformation—from 4 to 2,500+ students—stands as a powerful testament to faith, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to educational excellence that continues to shape the future of countless lives.
